How To Get More People Involved

We all have the same 24 hours in a day to accomplish all that we set out to accomplish. We would all love to have more active people in our organizations. The question is how do we go about getting more individuals actively involved. Initially, you may consider starting a mentoring program within your organization, which will allow new members to partner with other like minded individuals and learn the ins and outs of the organization in a hands on manor.

If you are interested in attracting more women to your group, here are a few suggestions:

  1. Make your mission clear-Women are results and mission orientated. Women want to know what they are getting into so outline a system to success.
  2. Let each woman know she is needed and encourage her progress.
  3. Capitalize on her interests
  4. Connect with every woman. This will allow you to gain insight into what subject she is passionate about, which will assist you in accomplishing your outlined goals.

Many women are juggling work and family, as well as their own schedules so make meetings and getting involved easy. If you have a group of young mothers that want to get involved consider holding your gathering at a kid friendly location or provide childcare. This option will allow your team to focus on the tasks at hand. Remember to make your gathering fun. Plan opportunities to socialize and events that bring people out to network with others in the community. Make sure you have enough events, hold at least one event  a month on your calendar to ensure participation. If a lady joins a group but does not feel involved in the process the likelihood that they will stay in the group is slim. Give them tasks that speak to their interests.

A great way to get more ladies to your events is to partner with other groups in your area. If you have an event coming up on health freedom make sure one of your lady leaders is the point of contact in getting other groups to the event. If you give a group a stake in the event then you are more likely to have their participation and they in turn are more likely to invite other members and friends. Publicity is an essential part of the work you do. Remember to use media outlets and harness the power of word of mouth.  These things will encourage growth and potentially increase group membership.

Women are relationship orientated, so work on building relationships with ladies outside of your group and outside of your comfort zone. Invite a member of another group out to coffee because you never know the level of momentum that  can come out of talking over coffee. Seek out those persons who are opinion leaders so as to learn all you can from their area of expertise.

In closing there is no magical recipe to get more women involved in your organization however we can all learn from each other on what has worked in the past.
